I watched Nikolay @nmladenov's interview with Amit Segal this evening, and what stood out was his statement that Israelis and the residents of Gaza share the hope to "break the cycle of violence" and live in peace.
Well, I am sorry to repeat this once again, but that is simply not the case. This is a misdiagnosis of the problem, which is why the proposed solutions continue to fail. The problem is that there is one side (the Israelis) that indeed wishes to live in peace with its neighbors, and a second side (the Palestinians) that is unwilling to accept a Jewish state. Both sides do not share the same hope.
There is no "cycle of violence." There is a 150-year-old violent attempt to prevent or destroy Jewish independence. Until this fundamental truth is understood, we will not be able to move forward.
