This Is It is a fascinating yet tragic look into the final days of Michael Jackson’s life. This is a concert-film/documentary that was supposed to show MJ’s preparation for his concert series in London. Instead, it turned into a chronicle of MJ’s final days.
Two of my best friends & I saw this in theaters the day it came out. I couldn’t wrap my head around how just weak & tired MJ looks in this documentary, he looks so run-down, it breaks my heart. And losing such a talented visionary at only 50 years? Especially in a day & age when so many artists are working into their 80s. It’s still breaks my heart.
All of that said, this film means a lot to so many people who appreciated Michael’s music like I do. Is it a tough watch? Yes. But I’m glad this exists- it brought me closer to Michael Jackson’s process as an artist.
When Michael Jackson won the Grammy Legend Award in 1993 at just 35 for his massive contribution to music, the entire venue gave him a standing ovation. Then Janet Jackson handed him the award, and they shared such a sweet sibling moment.
Michael Jackson spent $150K of his own money on the 'Beat It' music video and used real g*ng members to unite two rival g*ngs and taught them how to dance too.
