Feeling prickly. Started on Twitter because what else do you do when the world flips upside down? Trying to fight the corruption. Now part of #TheResistance.
@SenatorBennet What a fucking joke. The whole house is burning down, and you're tweeting about a painting that isn't perfectly straight.
With these people as our leaders, it's no wonder we lost our democracy.
Hey, Republicans. Fifty years of bitching about too much government got us a dictatorship where government will control everything without providing any safeguards to keep us alive.
Take a fucking victory lap.
Some suggestions for dealing with current events:
- Limit your news exposure to what you can handle. This is really important for not feeling overwhelmed.
- Take care of yourself. This is emotionally and physically exhausting. Do your best to get enough sleep. If you need to talk to your doctor about it, please do.
- Force yourself to exercise every day, at least a little. You don't have to go intense workouts every day, it can be as simple as going for a walk. Exercise is good for depression and helps promote a good night's sleep. I got in good shape after the 2016 election, and the exercise helped me work through my feelings.
- Look for information about what we can do going forward, when you are ready.
- Do your best to eat healthy foods. I'm not saying you can't have comfort food - we all need it at some point. But talking good care of yourself and eating healthy most of the time helps.
- Focus on the good things - family, friends, pets, work. It's really important not to dwell on the negative. I'm not saying to deny reality. But constantly dwelling on the negative helps no one.
- Spend time with / talk to supportive people who understand how you feel. This is HUGELY important.
Most of all, please ask your primary care doctor, or a healthcare provider you trust, to recommend a therapist. There are several who do phone/video sessions, if you would rather not go in person. You'll need to find a therapist you have good rapport with, so it may take a few tries, but it can be really great for working through your feelings.
And remember - you're not alone.
To anyone who intends to come take away the freedom, opportunity, and dignity of Illinoisans, I would remind you that a happy warrior is still a warrior.
You come for my people – you come through me.
You still have your family.
You still have your friends.
You still have your work.
You still have your passions.
You still have your diversions.
You still have the capacity to feel joy, and the means of doing so.
You still have your mind, which is and will always be yours alone.
And you still have the ability, no matter how difficult it may seem, to choose to carry on with your life, and spend the one and only existence you will get for all eternity in as loving, fulfilling, and authentic a way as you possibly can.
Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger says the non-credible threats that briefly disrupted voting at two Georgia polling places originated from Russia. “We identified the source; it was from Russia," he says.
Good morning. Today you can choose new way forward. Today you can vote for a better America. All of the hate Donald Trump has caused, all the divisiveness we’ve endured - today we can put it to an end. Your vote is your power.
Make this day count.
I have NEVER seen anyone as thoroughly eviscerated as Donald trump was by Kamala Harris that night, he was never the same after that.
It's one of my all-time favorite moments of 2024. ENJOY! 🍿
