What happened in Malviya Nagar is not a 'small fight between neighbours', It is racism, Clear and ugly

Three women from North-East India were abused, insulted and humiliated over something as basic as electrical repair work, Instead of handling the issue like normal adults, the neighbours chose to attack their identity, Calling them 'massage parlour worker' or 'sex worker', Saying things like 'my bedroom is open, go try him', this is not anger, this is racism mixed with sexism

People from the North-East are Indian, Fully, Completely, there is no debate about that Yet again and again, they are treated like outsiders in their own country, Mocked for their looks, Questioned about their character, Spoken to as if they are not equal

It is easy to shout 'we love our country' on the internet, It is easy to post patriotic messages but real respect starts at home, In your building, with your neighbour, If you cannot treat someone with dignity because they look different or come from another region, then your patriotism means nothing

Disagreements happen everywhere but dragging someone’s ethnicity and character into it is shameful, It shows a lack of basic humanity

No Indian deserves to be treated like a foreigner in their own land

Racism is not just about skin colour, It is about power, It is about trying to make someone feel small because you think they are different and it needs to be called out loudly

India is diverse, that is our strength, If we cannot respect that diversity in our own neighbourhoods, then we have failed each other

This is not just their fight. It is everyone’s responsibility to stand against racism

A young boy’s dream from Manipur has inspired the world.

'Boong,' a debut feature by Lakshmipriya Devi, has made history as the first Indian film to win Best Children and Family Film at the 2026 BAFTA Awards.

The film tells the heartfelt story of a schoolboy navigating racial tensions and life along the Manipur border, all while trying to reunite his family for his mother.

Competing against international blockbusters like 'Zootopia 2' and 'Lilo & Stitch,' 'Boong' stood out as the only Indian entry in the category.

Premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival and traveling across global festivals, 'Boong' culminated in this historic win in London.

Reflecting on the journey, director Lakshmipriya Devi shared, "To walk up till here felt like the last few steps to reach a summit of a mountain we never knew we were climbing in the first place."
