Q What are the implications if I'm nearing completion?

A: Provided your completion date is on or after the 23rd September 2022, you will pay #SDLT in line with the new rules

Q: What are the new thresholds?
A: For First Time Buyers, the threshold for paying #SDLT has increased from £300,000 to £425,000 meaning you will pay SDLT on the amount from £425,001. For all other purchases, the SDLT is increasing from £125,000 to £250,000.

Q: I have already exchanged contracts, will I need to pay SDLT?

A: The date on which you exchanged contracts does not impact how much SDLT you will pay. If your date of completion is on or after the 23rd September 2022, you will pay SDLT in line with the new rules.

Answer: This is a permanent change to the legislation and so will not be coming to an end in the foreseeable future.
