Really looking forward to watching The Peculiar Sensation of Being Pat Ingoldsby on @RTEOne after the news this evening. @SEAMUSMURPHY3’s portrait is a really sensitive, considered piece of work.
@donalobyrne@NiallQuinnLK73 Physics gives you very reliable evidence. Force = Mass by Acceleration. It’s a very simple calculation that can tell you whether a child running across the road or a 10 tonne truck travelling at 80 km an hour is more dangerous.
Can we all agree that people get ‘knocked down’ by cars? There is an increasing use of the term “collision”. It might sound more scientific but it tends to mask the fact that a truck or a car are very different from a cyclist or a child in terms of force.
@NiallQuinnLK73 I think it’s a little more about a crack handed attempt to avoid apportioning blame. Two objects collided rather than say the larger, heavier faster one struck the lighter, smaller slow moving one.
@JoeMugisho1@sallyhayd@cnni@amanpour@IrishTimes Reading it at the moment. It’s a brilliant exhaustive exposé of crimes against humanity and as a European it’s hard to avoid the conclusion that we are all complicit. Those of us who believe in equality and human rights need to step up and campaign for change
Interesting interview, @sallyhayd has been on the forefront in advocating for refugees and other migrants in Africa, go read her book ; My Fourth time, We drowned: Seeking Refuge on the World’s Deadliest route, to learn more.
