@JosieLong Enjoyed the WIP tonight! Last time I saw you was a lifetime ago in Fukuoka… been looking forward to seeing you in Glasgow. Good luck with the development!
Last time I saw @HadiFarabi was in Kyoto - this time it was exciting to chat about the hydrogen activities underway at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden. Hope to visit again soon. BTW, would love to commute by ferry (stares accusingly at Glasgow)!
Wonderful surprise to see former exchange students Laraib and Fatma (Sheffield) this week, whilst Enes and I visited Mohammed Ismail at the University of Hull, courtesy of our Daiwa Foundation Award! One of my favourite painters also made an appearance…can you guess who it is?
Wonderful to be visiting Diamond Light Source for the first time. Was invited by @teddybrightman et al to help investigate their 3D printed flow cells. Night shifts are an intense (but fun) way to get to know new colleagues better!

Extremely proud of JSPS alumnus Maryna Vorokhta who’s paper on CO2 uptake has been accepted in Chemical Engineering Journal (IF=16.7). In a short year under challenging circumstances she did a phenomenal job of pushing our carbon foams to new limits.

Enjoying a bit of sun between sessions at #MC16 at UCD in Dublin. Seen some great talks so far - especially Peter Strasser’s plenary. A lot of emphasis on electrochemistry in the Materials for Energy session! Hope my hay-fever improves by tomorrow…
Interesting few days at #UKPorMat2023 in Sheffield. Was surprised to be giving one of the few talks about carbon, but it was fun to learn so much about MOFs. Photo stolen from @darren_broom
This was a fascinating event. I learned so much about behaviour, midwifery, cooking practises and alternative fuels in Uganda that I wouldn't normally be exposed to. Lovely fish and chips for lunch too...
How do you raise awareness about the impacts of climate change? 🤔
Today, the #CleanEnergyAirandOceans Fellows discussed ways to change behaviours and promote the use of natural resources in daily life.
Thanks to @K4C_Uganda for organising today's event! 🙏
Our new paper is out in Applied Surface Science! Recent graduate Enes Can has gained mastery over our novel hydrophobic nanomaterials...

Japan might be squandering its head start on hydrogen due to an infatuation with fossil fuels...
"A half-decade after its first plan, Japan’s hydrogen goals remain distant"
