Doesn't that violate this:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
It's passed in the House and is now in the Senate.
I think the law as written is leaving California at risk for losing a First Amendment suit. They cannot define "legitimate journalists" being exempted from penalty without violating the rights of citizen journalists (not specifically defined).
It is ridiculously clear that California is trying to make it harder to expose the kind of fraud that Shirley found.
If "legitimate journalists" had been doing their real job instead of protecting or enabling the Democrat Party, fraud would have been uncovered long ago.
Thus the vacuum for independent journalists has risen, and California wants to scare them off by conflating the protection of people from being doxxed or harassed at their homes with the work of independent journalists attempting to expose fraud in public venues without bringing any threat of personal harm.
@ksorbs Interesting that the Cal. Attorney General’s wife introduced the Stop Nick Shirley Act, which fines journalists $4,000.00 for reporting fraud. Rob Bonta ((AG) is in charge of monitoring fraud…or is he?
