Outside of K-pop, several other key genres of music originating from Southeast Asia have been making waves internationally. One of them is P-pop. Leading its rise is boy band SB19 β who come to San Antonio with the intention of showcasing exactly why that is. From threats of disbandment, to establishing their own company 1Z Entertainment and becoming the first Filipino artist to perform at Lollapalooza Chicago. Expect a set that cannot be defined; K-pop-inspired choreography, a strong stage presence, emotional vulnerability, and a representation of the variety of art that has emerged from the Philippines. Our full spotlight on SB19 is now live. #SB19 #ATIN

May mga nagbabayolet na naman sa panibagong revelations for SB19's upcoming international events. And now, these haters are trying to build yet another narrative diminishing SB19's milestones after Lollapalooza by reducing everything to "connections." π
Sorry, but that "connection" is very different from the kind of connection you're probably used to seeing in showbiz.
Funny how the article is that long, yet your only takeaway from the entire interview is the word "connection," just so you can frame it as if SB19 got these opportunities simply because the Live Nation PH managing director pitched them. Mother Nation advocating for SB19 is not the same as booking SB19. She pitched them. Lollapalooza still had to decide whether they wanted SB19 or not. She doesn't have a magic "book this artist" button, nor was she some hired booking agent paid to get SB19 onto the lineup. Hindi siya si Wasserman lol. She is an executive who saw something in SB19, believed they deserved that stage, and advocated for them.
That's the part you conveniently leave out when you reduce everything to "connections."
Remind ko lang kayo, ha? SB19 started with nothing but their talent, hard work, perseverance, faith, dreams, and A'TIN. They didn't have industry connections to prop up their careers, open doors for them, or make them visible enough to get noticed. That's precisely why A'TIN became their marketing machinery. The boys and the fandom worked together to put their name out there, make people pay attention, and create opportunities where there were none. And that teamwork was so damn effective that Sony Philippines eventually took notice and signed them. The head herself became a fan of their work and started rooting for them. A'TIN calls her Mama Sony because she became part of the family.
The same thing happened with Live Nation PH. The head wasn't automatically sold on SB19 from the beginning. She got to know them, witnessed their work, saw what they were capable of, and became a believer too. She started rooting for them. Hence, our Mother Nation.
See the pattern?
These executives weren't there at the beginning. They became part of SB19's journey because they believed in SB19. And that's the part you conveniently leave out when you reduce everything to "connections."
SB19 builds genuine relationships with the people they work with because these people get to experience firsthand their artistry, talent, work ethic, professionalism, kindness, and humility. They become fans. They become believers. And when they get an opportunity to help, they advocate for SB19 because they genuinely want to see them succeed and believe they deserve bigger stages, just like we do.
That's how their "connections" were built. Not through padrino. Not through money. Not through agents pulling strings. Not through some pre-existing showbiz network handing them opportunities on a silver platter. The connection came after the work. The trust came after the proof. The advocacy came after people saw what SB19 could do.
SB19's connections are not the kind you're trying so hard to insinuate. They're people who came into their journey because they saw the work, recognized the talent, experienced the character, and chose to root for them.
And let's not forget, A'TIN was there BEFORE the "connections." We were there when barely anyone knew who SB19 was. We were the ones screaming into the void, promoting their music, putting their name out there, and helping make people pay attention. Now that the doors are opening and bigger names are saying, "We want SB19 here," suddenly it's all "connections"? π
Girl, we watched them build those connections from scratch. Those connections came because of the strong portfolio SB19 had already built, not the other way around. You don't get to erase YEARS of work just because somebody finally opened a bigger door.
The door may have been opened by someone who believed in them, but SB19 still had to be good enough to walk through it, and they fxcking were.
So, yeah. Cope well na lang siguro?π
aside from being best actor that he is, let's not forget he was once a kanto boys member of asap. sobrang naturally funny niya talaga π #johnlloydcruz
EXCLUSIVE REPORT (via @PEPalerts): SB19βs stint at Lollapalooza was initially scheduled on a smaller stage with a three-song set, but after the festival saw the overwhelming demand for the Filipino group and recognized how big they were becoming, SB19 was transferred to the Allianz Stage, where they ultimately delivered a full one-hour set β a major upgrade that reflected their rapidly growing international presence and audience demand.
