@radhive_fun I’ve got a SOTA beams linked dipole for HF which works great. I also have a CHA MPAS 2 which isn’t exactly lightweight but is still a good antenna. I might see if I can get some orange winders to put the dipole on, it can be in the photos then ;-)
Adding to my IC-705 portable kit today. I saw one of these MOLLE compatible antenna mounts on here the other day in one of @K4KHOMetroATL posts. Got one off eBay and found an antenna to suit my color scheme :-)
While I am waiting for a response to my CQ calls I think I need to look for an Orange cover for my MacBook Neo…. and an orange power cable for the 705 :-)
IC-705 JS8Call wirelessly from MacBook Neo and enjoying the sunshine in the garden today decided not to go camping, couldn’t find anywhere suitable nearby which is a real shame.
Have not used my IC-705 for a while, and when I did it was over USB to my MacBook Neo. A new update to SDR-Control for Icom includes a sound driver that work, so now I am set up to connect and operate the radio over WiFi again. Testing using 2m at home will get out /P at the weekend and have a go on HF :-)
A bit of JS8Call earlier this afternoon. FTX-1 optima with CHA MPAS 2 and MacBook Neo. Going to give it another try this evening. Receiving APRS from Ireland so will see if I can make any contacts with that too.
The sun is not shining and we don’t have the apocalyptic weather they keep going on about so I have to use gas to cook, always good to have a backup especially if it’s for my first outdoor full English breakfast or the year and very nice it was. Most ingredients locally sourced except the baked beans, no one knows where they come from :-)
Camping this weekend, set up, cooked dinner and now sat in the rain. So much for the heat wave forecast! Campsite not really the type I like, set pitches size meant I had to get the trailer in the right position to set up so I didn’t go over the edges, normally where I cam you just stop any what and set up. Quite a few people here but most of them are on the electric pitches away from where I am. Going to do some radio tomorrow I hope.
Good morning. Morning coffee :-) I stayed at the Halse Farm campsite near Winsford in Somerset. Really nice campsite not ‘wild’ enough for my taste but still well worth a visit if you come to Exmoor. Just a couple of miles from home for me. Thanks to the sunshine I’m taking home more electricity than I brought with me :-)
Today I added a mount for my MPAS 2.0 on my camping trailer. Seems to work quite well on JS8Call 7 and 20m and Vara Winlink on 30m. It is very windy here today which is why I was sat in the car and not at the back of the trailer which will be the preferred operating position if we get some sunshine. Winlink with Vara running in Crossover and JS8Call for MacOS all running quite happily on my MacBook Neo.
