๐ซ MEGA SCHOOL OR TRUE COMMUNITY SCHOOL?
If Hamilton County is moving toward larger consolidated schools, parents deserve more than a floor plan and a construction budget.
How will a Mega School preserve:
โข Strong relationships
โข Student belonging
โข Parent involvement
โข Local partnerships
โข Support services
โข School safety
โข Individual attention
4/4 That's the question at the heart of Part 4.
What is gained?
What is lost?
And what happens to the identity of a school community when three schools become one?

1/4 ๐ฅ PART 4 โ THE TRADE-OFF
Hamilton County is building a new elementary school that will bring together Alpine Crest, DuPont and Rivermont.
But before we focus on what we're building, there's another question:
What are we leaving behind?
3/4 The plan moved forward.
And in 2023, school board member Joe Smith said the idea of a larger elementary school serving this area had been discussed for 25 years.
So, what does consolidation mean for the communities surrounding these schools?

We're not here to tell you what to think.
We're here to ask the questions and follow the documents, the numbers and the process.
Because if this is the best option, show us the evidence.

1/4 ๐ฅ PART 3 โ THE PROMISE
A new school brings a lot of promises: modern facilities, new resources, shared facilities, and potential efficiencies.
And those promises may be very real.
But promises aren't outcomes.
So what will it actually take to make this work?
Then there are the contracts.
Who pays for maintenance? Repairs? Insurance? Utilities?
Who controls the gym schedule?
Who gets priority use?
And what happens decades from now?
These aren't unreasonable questions. They're questions taxpayers have a right to ask.
If bigger is better for these children, show us the data.
Parents deserve the research.
Taxpayers deserve the numbers.
And our children deserve decisions based on what actually works.
MEGA SCHOOLS: ARE BIGGER REALLY BETTER?
PART 2: Bigger Isnโt Always Better.
Last week we asked how big is too big for a school.
This week, let's look at the researchโand the three elementary schools that would become the new North River campus.
