On this day in 1955, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on the bus to a white passenger - changing everything, including our hearts.
Many years later when I asked her how she found the courage to do it, she told me “I was tired.”
Happy Rosa Parks Day, Massachusetts! In 1955, Rosa Parks sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott by refusing to give up her seat — a move that led to an end to racial segregation laws in the South, then nationwide.
Today and always, we honor her legacy and carry forward her work.
70 years ago, Rosa Parks took a stand for racial justice by sitting down on a public bus, becoming the “Mother of the Civil Rights Movement.”
On what would have been her 112th birthday, I’m proud to proclaim today the first official Rosa Parks Day in Massachusetts.
@JakeAuch Look at the 2020 primary donation map and ask yourself why Bristol County donated to Bernie. Your own district has been severely impacted by terrible trade deals like NAFTA which Bernie called out. The way forward is to bring jobs back to gateway cities!
Today is the LAST DAY to vote early in Massachusetts! If you’re busy on Tuesday, be sure to go today on your lunch break or after work! Vote for change. Vote @NadiaMilleron for Congress! #mapoli
