The BBC legal battle with Trump exposes allegations of factual distortion & agenda-driven reporting. It forces us to ask: if this is the alleged treatment of U.S. President, what narratives might have been constructed about third-world nations to suit geopolitical objectives?
BBC report details a campaign of sexual violence, weaponizing rape as a tool of collective punishment.
This isn't a "conflict." It's a targeted campaign to subjugate the Amhara people to the will of the regime. Accountability and justice for the victims are non-negotiable.
The Gaza peace summit in Sharm El-Sheikh reveals a clear signal on the state of Egypt's foreign policy towards Africa.Despite AU support to Palistinian cause & South Africa filed the case in ICC accusing Israel of genocid, not a single African leader attended Egypt event.
@mfaethiopia Inept & belligerent actions of amateur child king of #Addis@AbiyAhmedAli has brought #Turkey’s & #Egyptian military to #Ethiopia’s door steps for the first time in centuries!
‘Colluding with external actors’ is frankly laughable! @AbiyAhmedAli doesn’t know what a sovereign is?
@ElleniZeleke With profound sadness, I bid farewell to a brilliant scholar, and friend Elleni Zeleke. May the departed soul rest in peace and may God give the family strength!
Exactly six years ago, on May 29 2018 today, I was released after enduring four years of imprisonment. Thousands in Ethiopia and across the globe campaigned tirelessly for my freedom. Leading this campaign in Ethiopia was Meskerem Abera. Now, Meskerem languishes in the same prison where I suffered, a victim of Abiy Ahmed's fascist rule.
Meskerem, like many others who have fallen prey to this repressive regime, has committed no crime except standing for justice for the Amhara people, who have been murdered by the thousands and displaced by the millions.
After my release in 2018, I kept in touch with Meskerem. With her incredible intuitive intelligence, she was one of the first to see through the deceptive nature of Abiy Ahmed and tried to warn me. At the time, I was deceived by his rhetoric of peace, democracy, and unity, and I did not listen.
My failure to heed Meskerem's warnings, despite her and others' insights, remains one of my deepest regrets. Everything she predicted has become a grim reality, many times over.
I want to say, “I’m sorry, Meskerem, for not listening to you.” I am deeply sorry for the sacrifice you are making and the pain you are enduring, separated from your young children.
I promise to do everything in my power until you and your comrades regain your freedom and the just cause for which you are making immense sacrifices prevails.
