I am currently a Self Employed Bookkeeper and Tax Preparer. I will become a CPA and the Owner of a firm that specializes in Fractional CFO Services and Tax Strategy.
Being self-employed and being a business owner are often used interchangeably, but are drastically different. Both have their pros and cons, but thinking you are a business owner when you are actually self employed does not unlock the freedom you were looking for.
There will come a time when the friends, who stopped being your friends because you no longer party or accept their plans, will ask you how you became successful. Your reply is "I was telling you how by saying no to the plans that did not align with my goals"
At your funeral, friends and family will argue over who gets your belongings.
People will talk about the food and the venue.
Your life will be summarized in 2-3 paragraphs.
Conversations will shift from your life to their lives.
Your friends will drive away thinking about what’s next on their to-do list.

This is what business owners expect from 3rd party vendors, yet expect to pay much less than an employee. If you offer this to businesses, and you are struggling to make a profit, raise your prices and find the customers that understand your value.
If you hired an employee that did not need training, and actually just needed to ask a few questions about your business and knew exactly what to do and immediately free up your time, would you pay this employee more?
It is the primary goal of the business owner to provide the lowest cost possible to their customers AND the highest cost possible for their employees. The only way to truly achieve this is provide so much undeniable value that the market price of what your selling does not matter
