United Airlines announced last week that it will resume pilot hiring immediately. Mesa pilots who are part of the United Aviate program should keep an eye out for information from the program.

Communications Chairman David Silvestri and Cici Garmhaus, sr. specialist – Communications, briefed the MEC on Communications Committee activities, strategic planning, survey results and Section 6 communications. Portions of the brief were in closed session.

Captain Ewing, also an ALPA National EVP, then presented on the recent activities of the ALPA National Executive Board, including an overview of dues and budget discussions, ALPA-PAC and governmental activities, and more.

In his MEC Secretary report, Captain Ewing briefed the MEC on the committee structure, status of volunteers, Training Review Board (TRB) meetings and more.

Captain Chris Gill, MEC chairman, called the meeting to order and discussed changes to today’s agenda. MEC Secretary Scott Ewing took roll and established a quorum.

Negotiating Committee Chairman Tad Hetler briefed the MEC in closed session. The MEC continued the negotiations discussion in closed session.

Captain Hetler, the previous Grievance Committee chairman, briefed the MEC on the status of current grievances.

Amy Alpieri, ALPA National E&FA, briefed the MEC on the E&FA Research Center and resources, shared an overview of the overall economy, aviation industry and Mesa, and answered questions from the MEC.

Captain McCormick, FFDC National chair, briefed the MEC about benefits, resources and activities of the Fee-For-Departure Committee. Captain David Szurgot, FFDC National member, also spoke to the MEC, providing a case study of how FFDC has supported ALPA members.
