"In a free society where you don’t fear being locked up for our opinions, true moral courage isn’t standing up to the people with whom you disagree. It’s standing up to the people with whom you AGREE — on behalf of those with whom you DISAGREE. Are we strong enough to do that?"
@gindaanis@KyleJamesHoward … And yes, faith in Jesus requires us to consistently call out racist/antisemitic ideas—especially among Christians and those who call themselves believers. Trying to do my part, however feeble.
@gindaanis@KyleJamesHoward Mmm…yes regardless of how we label these powerful groups, when threatened, the powerful often react with violence—even toward the perfectly innocent. And historically those in power and seeking power have used racist and antisemitic rhetoric to advance their divisive causes ...
@KyleJamesHoward … of His Son was the power structure of the day — which happened to be Jewish religious leaders and Roman political leaders. But make no mistake, it was not their Jewishness or Romaness that made them executioners … it was their humanness — like all of us that allowed (3) …

@AlanLCross ....the “moral” of the story is we don’t get to pick. God has already chosen all humanity as our neighbor and they may not be LIKE US. Our color, or wealth, language, morality, legal status, (fill in our personal prejudice here)...You’re not comfortable? Still neighbor & ministry
@AlanLCross For us today, as important as the parable itself is the context. It responds to this question from an expert in the law... “But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, ‘And who is my neighbor?’“ Like this questioner, so many want to pick THEIR neighbor! And of course...
@SusanCodone Recently some twitter SBCers, debated if it was appropriate for Lottie Moon (exemplar of SBC foreign missions) to preach even if there was no man availbl. Answer: “No”. They could not trust the judgment of a 4’3” tall 40-year missionary woman now dead for 100 yrs. That’s ferocity
And that message amplified by David French:
"We must also bless those who persecute us. These are not tactics. They’re commands."

@PointQuestioner @NeilShenvi We’ve all been dissed along the way, yet we are still on God’s mission to people ... and some of those people are “woke” or otherwise. Matthew 5:43-48.
@justanurse25 Often... Remember, even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues.
Silence is my best disguise!
@KyleJamesHoward Yes, my new personal rule... I won’t give credance to any critique of CRT/I from anyone who hasn’t written as many or more characters opposing racism and other bigotry. Otherwise, even if well intended, they give aid and comfort to (excuses for) the greater enemy of racism.
