Mr. Mbalula, with respect, the image you posted does not establish what you claim it does.

Law 4 prohibits players from displaying political, religious or personal slogans, statements or images on their equipment such as shirts, armbands, undershirts or visible accessories. That rule is about what appears on a player's kit and equipment, not every word a player may utter after a match or during a welcome ceremony.

If you believe Teboho Mokoena breached a FIFA regulation, then identify the specific provision that governs his spoken remarks at a post-match homecoming and explain how his conduct satisfies that rule. Simply posting Law 4 does not do that.

More fundamentally, South Africa is a constitutional democracy. Before demanding that a citizen be disciplined, we should ask: Was he campaigning for votes, or was he acknowledging supporters in attendance? Those are not the same thing.

It is also disappointing that your first instinct is to call for punishment rather than to carefully establish whether any rule was actually broken. Public leaders should avoid stretching sporting regulations beyond what they plainly say.

Constitutional rights and sporting regulations can coexist. If there was a breach, it should be identified and addressed under the correct rule. If there was no breach, we should not manufacture one because some people disliked the political reference.

Political affiliation should have no place in our sport. Many are rightfully upset about Mrembulo acknowledging the Economic Freedom Fighters. The EFF came out in numbers, I greeted them publicly as well.The player intended no malice. The atmosphere was one of unity.
