Last night I went up to the cages to work primarily on defense. I did some simulated throw downs to second base, and had my velo recorded. I have improved to 79mph so far. I had a good lift after school today, and then went up to the cages for a catching/hitting workout. Defensively, I focused on receiving while mixing in some RHP sliders. I also worked on blocking. Offensively, I continued my 16oz hit jack routine which included tee work, front toss, and BP. I then dropped the weight for some additional front toss and BP. My EV on the hittrax topped at 95 with a max distance of 378, which beat my previous mark. I went up to the cage earlier tonight for some catching and hitting. I've been staying consistent in my approach this off season, with a focus on getting stronger and improving every day.
I worked off the tee, some front toss, and then BP off the machine. My EV has topped out at 96mph so far on the HitTrax. After a good lift after school, I went up to the cage for a full catching workout. My main focus tonight was receiving. First, I did some short hops while working on staying underneath the ball. I then moved on to some short toss weighted ball reps. I switched to the machine to work on some high and low pitches, while also mixing in some sliders from both the left and right side. Thank you @PrepBaseballNY for a fun Fall Lumberyard Classic tournament this weekend. I was fortunate enough to play with an 18U team, and we went 3-1 losing in the championship.
