Tata registered 14,892 EVs in Sep’26, up 102% YoY and 8% MoM.
But look beyond the headline 👇
✅ Punch EV: 4,666 | +278% YoY
✅ Nexon EV: 3,469 | +43%
✅ Sierra EV: 1,951 | +35% MoM
✅ Curvv EV: 1,244 | +184% YoY
The bigger story:
🔹 Punch + Nexon + Sierra = 10,086 units, nearly 68% of Tata EV volume
🔹 SUVs/crossovers = 87% of Tata EV volume
So Tata's EV growth is no longer being driven by its entire portfolio equally. It is increasingly becoming an SUV-led growth story.
But there are cracks too:
⚠️ Tiago EV fell 34% MoM
⚠️ Harrier EV fell 13% MoM and 5% YoY
⚠️ Curvv EV was almost flat MoM despite strong YoY growth
And perhaps the most interesting signal: Sierra EV registered 1,951 units more than Harrier EV's 1,591.
Even more revealing: around 77% of Sierra registrations were with the 75-kWh battery, while AWD accounted for 20%.
The real story is the shift in Tata's EV demand mix:
From affordable hatchback-led EV adoption towards premium SUVs, larger batteries and newer products.
Now the question is: Can Tata sustain this momentum once the initial Sierra demand normalises and can Harrier EV recover?
