“You have to always know where he’s at”. OG with a simple yet effective way to describe Randle’s gravity and his ability to shift the opponent’s game plan just by being on the court @DJAceNBA#Knicks
OG Anunoby on teammate Julius Randle:
"He can do it all out there...he's really a triple-double threat every night. And then he can score with the best of them. Tough shot-maker, gets to the rim...just a threat from all over the floor. You have to always know where he's at."
@Ccourtenayjr@BenRitholtzNBA Height might be part of it but Trae young is a small guard too who’s great at throwing lobs. I think it’s partly on Brunson to improve his playmaking skills and also partly on Thibs to incorporate these opportunities into the offensive flow more often
Mitch's FG% on Layups over his career. He's been abysmal in 3 of the last 4 seasons. Back to the basics in the lab this summer: Free Throws and touch around the hoop #Knicks#NBA
Under-discussed element of Mitch’s last few seasons is his precipitous drop in FG%.
Was at elite 77% in ‘22. Dropped to 67% in ‘23. Career low 58% last season.
@aprofounddream@BenRitholtzNBA Good point. Based on the categories that @bball_ref provides, I’d assume tip-ins count as layups. Could be a simple adjustment for him to gather the rebound first and then go up with it for higher efficiency
@xavierjdesigns Is there one metric that’s a better measure of offensive load/not as flawed as usage rate ? Or would you use a combo of multiple metrics
@hopefulmetsfan@krispursiainen Thanks for asking this. That was batshit crazy coaching. Dude’s been warming the bench all season…and he puts him in the most critical possession in game 74? It didn’t end up impacting the play but what if it did #Knicks
Decided I’m gonna go NBA referee mode at work tomorrow (be completely ambivalent about my job because I know I will face no repercussions whatsoever for my terrible performance)
Deuce McBride:
Last season: 29.9% 3P% on 134 3PA
This season: 40.1% 3P% on 142 3PA
Huge props to Deuce for making this leap in Year 3. Combine the 3P efficiency with his elite defense, and he has a solid career ahead of him #Knicks#NBA
Oddly enough, RJ is shooting an abysmal 66/111 (59.5%) on Free Throws since joining #Raptors, the worst FT% of all 48 players w/ 100+ FTA in that time span
As a #Knicks fan, this gives flashbacks to his Rookie Year
Since joining the #Raptors, RJ Barrett is 14th in the #NBA in Restricted Area FGA (146)
He’s shooting an excellent 70.5% on these attempts, better than Zion, SGA, LeBron, & Ant Edwards
Turns out all RJ needed to do to make layups is leave the #Knicks
RJ is also shooting 52.9% on Drives and passing on 38.3% of Drives as a Raptor.
As a #Knicks he was shooting just 38.6% and passing on 26.7% of Drives
Seems like going home has done him some good. Hopefully he keeps it up #NBA

KAT isn’t usually talked about as an “all-time distance shooter” but props to @NBA for calling that out
He’s certainly one of the best shooting bigs of all-time at this point
KAT: 40% career 3P% on 2402 3PA
Dirk: 38.1% 3P% on his first 2466 3PA

LeBron James says he is “50-50” if he will want a farewell tour in the final season of his NBA career. Adds that he is not comfortable with praise. James adds that he is not sure how many seasons he has “but it’s coming.”
