2nd stranded thresher shark of the week. This is the time of year we see strandings as water temperatures start to drop and species try to move south only to be drawn into the Cape Cod fish trap.

It was 11 years ago today that I saw a white shark attempt to eat this seal off Manomet Point, Plymouth. The seal survived and has been resighted multiple times since.

Most people mistakenly believe white sharks leave when summer ends but some will be here into the winter.

#OTD Oct. 1, 2004. After 11 days stuck in the West Gutter of Naushon Island the white shark is finally moved out with the help of weir fisherman Ernie Eldridge & his crew. The ordeal is not over as the shark's path to freedom is blocked by boulder fields & shoals of Lackey's Bay

On this day 21 yrs ago, our efforts to free the Naushon white shark continue. The shark moved north of the Nonamessett Rd bridge giving us hope she’d exit thru Hadley’s Harbor. This is one of my favorite photos because it sums up the whole situation in one frame.

2,000 lb Great White “Mallory” that we caught in 2021 has been pinging in a bunch up in Popham Beach, Maine.

Today marks the 7th anniversary of Arthur Medici’s death after he was bitten by a white shark off Newcomb Hollow beach in Wellfleet. Please take a moment to remember him and his family today. Also keep in mind this is peak white shark season. Be #SharkSmart and stay vigilant.
