Did the world ever really understand Michael Jackson or did we only understand the character the world created around him? 🖤
On his birthday, that question feels worth asking.

Think back to the 1993 Grammy era. Michael stood at the height of his fame, carrying the impossible weight of being one of the most recognizable people on Earth. 🌎

Millions knew the performer.
Millions knew the moonwalk.
Millions knew the voice, the videos, the gloves, the spectacle.
But how many people really knew the man?
His sensitivity was unusual. His imagination was enormous. His life was unconventional. And perhaps the more famous he became, the harder it became for the world to separate Michael the human being from Michael Jackson, the global phenomenon.

Yet his influence is impossible to deny.

He changed the way music was made, performed, filmed, danced to, and experienced. He didn't simply follow pop culture he helped rewrite it. 🎶🕺🏽✨

Sometimes the world celebrates the genius while misunderstanding the person.

Sometimes being different is mistaken for being difficult to understand.

And sometimes history needs more time before it knows what it was looking at.

You don't have to believe Michael Jackson was perfect to recognize that his artistic legacy is extraordinary.
