What does "stop being useful to the ruling classes" even mean here?

Does it include skilled labor, education, the knowledge to handle complex tools? Literally EVERYTHING a worker does is useful to the ruling classes. Our very existences are useful to them.

So to isolate "fitness" as the only thing we shouldn't seek due to this arbitrary reason seems... suspicious to me. You want workers to get more skilled and be better workers in everything but their ability to fight back against the ruling classes? Strange...
