I’ll log on between a taco popup & a youth futures program call.
I commit to diversity in member contributors & to weigh heavily: Black futurists; futurists of color; Womxn futurists; newer futurists; LGBTQ futurists, as editor of Compass, the publication of the Association of Professional Futurists. I'll be answerable if the vision isn't met
I’ve the honor of guest editing APF Compass & the obligation to address diversity & inclusion in its pages w/ contributors who reflect current + aspirational APF members.
We’ve called for submissions https://t.co/pnJ1wEE0lJ
& I'll ensure equitable representation in gender & race
"Do not get lost in a sea of despair. Be hopeful, be optimistic. Our struggle is not the struggle of a day, a week, a month, or a year, it is the struggle of a lifetime. Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble.”
- John Lewis
The Omidyar Network's @OmidyarNetwork new Ethical Explorer pack w/ a Field Guide & Tech Risk Zones is a great tool in this arena "to help navigate the future impact of today’s technology"! https://t.co/o6puQndFEs

4/ We know that for those leading this work, raising their hand and pushing back, it can feel like you’re an isolated pioneer. We know not every company welcomes these conversations.
That’s why #EthicalExplorer includes language to help you make the case (& stickers bc cute!)
What tools/frameworks to explore ethical impacts of tech have impressed you?
Foresight’s Implications Analysis is great yet ethics aren’t built in.
McLuhan’s classic Tetrad scratches the surface.
Business Ethical Reasoning isn't rigorously future tense.
What are you leveraging?
Facebook has foresight strategists in house, so why was it not prepared for the boycott & civil rights report? My 1st assumptions for how this happened: placement & access. Was the team not in a reporting line to address & influence these core areas?
Surely they saw them coming.
So invigorating to revisit/refresh foresight methodologies w/ the APF’s Knowledge Base of Futures Studies. To me, this geography of futures studies is so powerful now w/ the increasing demand for rigorous futures work & opportunities to use foresight tools for good
@profuturists
I learned a lot from @arlanwashere’s It's About Damn Time- a highly recommended book in my post-MBA reading https://t.co/iyAVIlqprC
It snuck up on me, inspiring me in my work, esp w/ @Zebras_Unite, & shares wisdom atop its value as memoir + info in the VC domain.

Forget flying cars. The shiniest, most exciting new technology for transportation is more than 100 years old and is probably sitting in your garage right now. https://t.co/A9JguBbX3I
