We are a non-profit focused on increasing youth baseball participation in MN and Western WI - creating opportunities for community-based baseball associations.
"Parents aren't the problem; CONFUSION is. If parents aren't being communicated to, they will make it up.. in the stands, parking lot.. This goes for everything - tryouts, development, culture.. If you are not clear, parents will make up their own version." - Hockey Think Tank
Play for your community! Represent your community!
Good story on the rapid rise of youth club sports, and the for-profit groups who are investing in many of them.

Truth! Strikeout or homerun, win or lose - enjoy watching your child play ball! There will come a day when you wish you could watch your player dig in and take one more at bat.
For our catching people out there ...
Simple drills, learn to receive the pitch, basic blocking. Youth catchers can do these same drills, and it does not need to take a lot of time.
Here’s 90 seconds of d’Arnaud’s pregame routine…
This is perfect example of doing what works for YOU & doing what gives you the feels YOU want to perform at YOUR best.
Short hops, slow motion rolls & movements, two knee set ups… unique drills that work for HIM.

Controlling the running game as an infielder requires you to identify the speed of the runner before the play. Then adjust your footwork pattern for each type of runner, keeping the same tempo and arm action regardless of the runner.

🚨 The Game within the Game
Next time an ump makes a bad strike call on you, nod your head in agreement & get back in the box.
There’s too much negativity directed at umpires - it’s a hard job.
Show them respect & you might get the next call because of it.
Food for Thought. NCAA men's Supers and WCWS have 4-umpire crews and they rightly gather to discuss rule interpretations/ judgment 3-4x per game, + replay. Youth baseball has ONE umpire with 5% of the training the NCAA umps have, and is expected to get those same calls right.
Diving into the rule book again, shall we ...
This week we cover some batter's interference on a steal, as well as the definition of a catch. A couple classics!
Let's talk rules! "Ask the Umpire" is back for 2025. This week, we are talking catcher's helmets, as well as pitcher's returning to pitch later in the game.

In youth baseball, all of our pitchers play at least one other position. Coach Meade emphasizes the importance of managing how much these players throw in practice. Coaches Insider has the full interview:

All youth sports have some common themes and lessons. Great message from former pro hockey player PJ Atherton about getting cut as a youth player. As many of our MBL associations conduct tryouts in the coming weeks, keep this in mind. Baseball has MANY of these same stories!
“I became relentless in pursuing getting better”
PJ Atherton was cut at 13 years old from his town’s top team in Minnesota… and then a few years later lived his childhood dream playing at the University of Minnesota where he won a national championship. It’s yet another story of hitting adversity at a younger age and it ending up being one of the best things that happen for someone’s career.
So many parents think their kid’s career is over if they don’t make the top teams at young ages. It’s just flat out false.
It’s not the thing that happens to us that is more important, it’s how we choose to respond to it.
