Some good news for a change! A judge ruled that Trump’s freeze on processing immigration applications for 39 countries is illegal and that processing must restart immediately.
This ruling is a step in the right direction. Let’s keep up the fight.
#Iran is located within the active collision zone between the northward-moving Arabian Plate and the Eurasian Plate. The convergence is accommodated by crustal shortening, folding, thrust faulting, and major strike-slip fault systems

A week after @USCISJoe's illegal policies suspending adjudications on applications that he didn't feel like working on were VACATED, he was still telling the court that he was "working on" implementing the order. USCIS Joe needs to be impeached.
The USCIS pause is putting Iranian students and workers at risk of losing status and being forced back to Iran—where they could face persecution from the brutal Islamic Republic regime or renewed conflict.
@SenMarkey and I led our colleagues to demand answers and immediate protections for Iranians in the U.S. who cannot safely return home.

USCIS Policy Memorandum PM-602-0194 imposes holds on immigration benefits for nationals of Iran and several other countries. This affects many already-vetted students, researchers, and professionals who are actively contributing to American institutions and innovation in STEM fields.
As Google Distinguished Scientist Dr. Milanfar has observed, applying such holds to these rigorously screened individuals risks working against US national interests by limiting the talent that has long strengthened U.S. research and technology leadership.

Dear @RepYassAnsari@yassaminansari ,
I understand you represent Americans, specifically Arizonans, and I do not expect anything from you personally. But it is disappointing to see you repeatedly use your country of origin for attention and political gain, while doing nothing for Iranian immigrants legally living and working in the U.S.
Other members such as @RepMariaSalazar are actively helping their communities navigate the USCIS pause, which is threatening jobs, stability, and futures for Iranian students, researchers, and professionals. Yet you have made no similar effort to support this community.
You should choose: either help the people of your birth country meaningfully or stop exploiting it for attention.
This @USCIS statement is utterly meaningless. It is proof that the ONLY reason that USCIS is freezing cases is to slowdown and stop legal immigration. Period. They have done NOTHING since December to enhance the US immigration system. Shame on you @USCISJoe, you are taking money from immigrants and not adjudicating their cases. Surely you realize what that means.

USCIS announces that "holds have been lifted" for "certain petitions filed by US citizens." The very vague language inspires little faith that this is a broad rollback of the USCIS benefits freeze affecting all immigrants from 40 countries rather than isolated relief for a few.
Are you, or do you know, an Iranian student currently ensnared in USCIS issues?
Please DM me.
I’m trying to see how we can raise awareness and help Iranian students.
This is exactly what so many of us are facing—indefinite delays with no transparency, no timeline, and no due process.
Lawfully present, fully vetted professionals are being pushed into uncertainty for no clear reason. This must be addressed.

I estimated how much revenue the State Department and USCIS have received from legal immigrants and US sponsors for benefits that they are now banned from receiving. The answer is over $1 BILLION. That's just from the people who would've been approved this year
@SenMullin , many of us including Iranian immigrants came to the United States because we believe in the promise you spoke about. We are here legally, we contribute to science, innovation, and the economy, and we are here to stay, continue building, and giving back.
We love this country and deeply appreciate the opportunities it gives us. 🇺🇸

@TSMERDIST@USCIS Please lift the pause affecting Iranian applicants who have filed for adjustment of status. Many families, scholars, and professionals are waiting for decisions on their green card applications. @SecRubio
Thousands of law-abiding, highly skilled immigrants came to the United States legally, passed extensive background checks, and built their lives contributing to American innovation, research, healthcare, and engineering.
Today, many of these vetted professionals face uncertainty because of the USCIS pause on immigration benefits such as OPT, H-1B, EADs, and Green Card processing.
These individuals followed every rule, maintained lawful status, and contribute billions to the U.S. economy and scientific progress.
Legal immigrants who respect the law should not be punished. America has always benefited from talent that strengthens its economy and global leadership in science and technology.
We urge policymakers and USCIS to reconsider this policy and lift the hold on lawful, vetted immigrants.
