I strongly suggest you check out The Maze by @MBastarrachea . The concept is relatively simple but quite effective for long campaigns. You are trapped in an endless maze, and you start and end each session in the main room. This allows players to hop in and out each week without affecting the flow of the campaign. Plus the rule of “gain one level for each room you survive” allows players to catch up quickly, even if their previous character was killed.
