Came across this while cleaning. Realize I am fortunate to be adding to this collection, despite significant challenges… Teaching is a calling, and a privilege. What a nice, mid-summer reminder!! Wanted to take a picture before I put them away. 💕
Can’t Hide Cougar Pride! Guess who won first place in the Real Food For Kids culinary challenge this year? Kenmore Cougars, led by Ms. Bilanchone! It was an awesome even. The team is elated and humbled to have won such an honor. @APSVirginia@APS_CTE@KenmorePTA
Our kitchen “crime scene.” Students were asked to find at least 20 kitchen safety mistakes. They are now creating presentations, using their detective skills and their immeasurable creativity, to solve the mystery of what happened to the gingerbread person. @APSKenmore#FACS
8th grade FACS students learning team work and creative problem solving, using “The Boat Challenge.” Results were so impressive that I ran out of paper clips to use to measure how much weight their boats could hold! @APSKenmore#CTE#FACS
On this last day of #PrideMonth, we hope all educators carry its spirit forward into future practices. You *can* create spaces where more LGBTQ students feel valued—where pride is encouraged and supported year-round.

”There are clear steps schools can take to decrease the abuse of trans students. Creating a sense of belonging, educating staff and students, and allowing youth to identify with their gender identity all helped.”

“Biden also denounced numerous anti-LGBTQ bills being introduced by Republicans in state legislatures. He called the bills some of the “ugliest most un-American laws” and “bullying disguised as legislation.”
President @JoeBiden, surrounded by #Pulse victims' families and other modern-day trailblazers, signed historic legislation. Then he spoke about his administration's pro-LGBTQ record and his son Beau's desire to advocate for #LGBTQ people. https://t.co/vKrIsZHUOK
The school board meeting was not even about CRT! But yes, systemic racism is real, and children deserve the opportunity to understand that so that they can do better than previous generations. #equity#antiracism#TransRightsAreHumanRights
Loudoun County making national news because parents are protesting adopting inclusive policies to support Transgender students is an embarrassment. They are fighting to remain racist and transphobic? #ProtectTransKids#translivesmatter#blackTRANSlivesmatter
2 people were arrested at a chaotic school board meeting in Loudoun County, VA after parents protested "critical race theory" and a policy to identify trans students using their correct pronouns.
Only 1 in 5 trans students are called by correct pronouns at school, says @HRC.
This is dangerous and harmful. If you call yourself an educator, but you actively harm student mental health by refusing to use their pronouns, YOU are the problem. https://t.co/xgq5bojO5w
