@ShakinthatChalk There are immense issues with teacher pay, post-5 year incentives etc etc and I completely agree with the principle but disagree that this comparison is the way to express it.
Focus on pay progression for classroom teachers and yearly increase far more important imo.
@ShakinthatChalk Β£100 a week is a huge amount for many. I think the minimum wage comparison is too simplistic and rather derogatory towards minimum wage workers.
Student teachers can walk straight out of a PGCE and into Β£39k a year which is higher than the mean graduate salary in the UK.
@MsGHist Donβt assume you have to go to the first school that offers you a job! Apply for schools that look on paper like they suit you, but use the interview to check this. If you donβt like the school on interview day, donβt sign!
