यह केवल एक पत्रकारिता-रिपोर्ट नहीं है; यह रेगिस्तान के भीतर से उठती हुई उस भारतीय आत्मा की गवाही है, जिसे सत्ता की बुलडोज़री भाषा अभी पूरी तरह कुचल नहीं सकी है।

बाड़मेर के केरकोरी, सियाई, मालाना और सीमांत गाँवों की प्रतिध्वनि लेकर आती यह रिपोर्ट बताती है कि भारत केवल सरकारी नोटिसों, सेक्शन 91, गोचर भूमि, राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा और प्रशासनिक आदेशों से नहीं बना है; भारत उन हरला राम मेघवालों से भी बना है, जो मस्जिद टूटने के बाद मुसलमान पड़ोसियों को खाना पहुँचाते हैं और कहते हैं, “ये हमारे भाई हैं।”

यही पत्रकारिता का असली धर्म है।

पारुल ने सत्ता की प्रेसनोट आधारित पत्रकारिता नहीं की है; उन्होंने मलबे के पास खड़े मौलवी हिशामुद्दीन की आँख देखीं, उस सफ़ेद मीनार की ख़ामोशी सुनी, उस बंद दान-पेटी की कथा समझी, जिसमें गाँव के ग़रीब लोगों ने पाँच साल तक छोटी-छोटी रक़में डालकर मस्जिद बनाई थी। यही वह रिपोर्टिंग है, जिसमें आँकड़ा भी है, कानून भी है, सुप्रीम कोर्ट की गाइडलाइन भी है, प्रशासन की चुप्पी भी है और मनुष्य की धड़कन भी है।

इस रिपोर्ट की सबसे बड़ी खूबी यह है कि यह किसी समुदाय की पीड़ा को सांप्रदायिक क्रोध में नहीं बदलती, उसे भारतीय लोक-संबंधों की सबसे सुंदर परंपरा में रखती है।

यहाँ मुसलमानों की मसीत टूटी है; लेकिन दुःख हिंदुओं के घरों में भी पहुँचा है। यहाँ प्रशासन ने नोटिस दिया, बुलडोज़र आया, मलबा रह गया; लेकिन गाँव वालों ने उसके जवाब में सर्व धर्म शांति सभा बनाई। यह दृश्य किसी संविधान-ग्रंथ की प्रस्तावना से कम नहीं है।

पारुल की रिपोर्ट सत्ता से बहुत सख़्त सवाल पूछती है: अगर गोचर भूमि पर अतिक्रमण है तो केवल एक समुदाय क्यों? अगर राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा है तो प्राकृतिक न्याय क्यों नहीं? अगर कानून है तो पंद्रह दिन का नोटिस कहाँ गया? अगर राजधर्म है तो राजनीति इतनी अधीर क्यों है?

आज के दौर में जब बहुत-सी पत्रकारिता सत्ता के दरबार में झुककर शब्द चुनती है, पारुल कुलश्रेष्ठ ने मैदान में जाकर मनुष्य चुना है। उन्होंने दिखाया कि पत्रकारिता का अर्थ केवल घटना लिखना नहीं, अन्याय के भीतर दबे हुए मनुष्य को पुनः दृश्य बनाना है। ऐसी रिपोर्टें ही लोकतंत्र की आख़िरी साँस बचाती हैं। इस साहसिकता को शाबाशी भी, सलाम भी!
