@HoopAficionado The idea is to sacrifice your best players on the altar of 'gegenpressing' or whatever the flavour of the month is which involves pretty much everything apart from actually scoring goals.
You will never convince me that Amorim is going to take this club forward. Any sane institution would sack this man now whilst there's a genuine possibility of a top 4 finish
I never had sympathy for Ten hag with the volume of goals / bad chances we’d concede because he allowed for Onana’s weaknesses to be maximised. We wasn’t hard to attack and didn’t defend distances as units.
Amorim has done the same thing, so I’m not looking at these 9 months as it ‘being the players’. Your responsibility as a coach is to aim for maximising your players’ strengths whilst minamising their weaknesses. If you’re going to allow your team to be easy to attack in every possible defensive phase of the game then you’re exposing a weak goalkeeper like Onana to vulnerable moments. It’s terrible coaching or player management.
Players obviously need to go, Onana obviously needs to go and we’ve all known it since months ago, but the biggest concern is how the *head coach* makes players look worse than better. A footballer does not try to be shit or underperform, but if they’re under the enforcement of coach-lead instructions that dominates their decision making then you’re naive to not expect drop in performance.
It was Hojlund, now it’s Sesko.
It was Garnacho, now it’s Cunha.
It was Lindelof, now it’s Heaven/Fredricson/Yoro + whoever.
The list goes on of examples.
Irrespective of the calibre of footballers you give this head coach there will always be underperformance because he does not coach the basic fundamentals of the sport well enough in the context he’s now in.
Back to the same position of wondering whether United will be brave enough to make the required decision early on in the season or will they keep dragging this out and waste yet another season (definitely the latter) https://t.co/A1bg0xCwbf
Kobbie Mainoo is open to leaving Manchester United.
Head coach Ruben Amorim seems to prefer other midfielders, and the England international has entered the final 24 months of his Old Trafford contract.
The issue is where Mainoo goes, as there do not appear to be many options ahead of this market closing.

@HoopAficionado@VintageVarela50 It's a rare skill already. 1 in 4 kids here in the UK don't have the requisite reading skills when they leave primary school (age 11).
With the rise of AI and AI-native OS, coming generations are absolutely fucked. Hence why I don't use AI for any non-work related summary work.
@HoopAficionado I wonder at what point the penny will drop with Guardiola that he simply cannot compete at this level without a certain level of physicality in the team
@HoopAficionado African dark skin black man bro. We talked about this. If you are that skin colour, you better pray you are technically elite, because it won't take long for that subconscious racism to come out.
@HoopAficionado Furthermore, wtf are you doing getting a husky, a dog trained to carry sleds in Arctic conditions, in a climate change hellhole like north India? Insane behaviour.
@sports_by_stats@HoopAficionado Now, Arsenal get away with this because they have Gabriel + Saliba which is probably the best CB partnership in the world. But they'll feel this keenly if Saliba goes off to Madrid in the next 1-2 seasons
@sports_by_stats@HoopAficionado Put him in midfield and you have personnel issues because a) he can't orchestrate play and b) because he likes to carry and vacate centre midfield, you need to pair him with someone who not only can conduct play but is also strong/mobile enough to cover areas behind him.
@sports_by_stats@HoopAficionado Rice at CB is top 3 defenders in the world. Strong, good in duels, good in the air and added kicker of being a fantastic ball winner and carrier. That profile is invaluable in defence.
Given Sinner's serve, baseline power and unreal speed and court coverage, it's really difficult to see anyone (inc. Alcaraz) consistently beating him in Slams #Wimbledon
11th player to win MVP and FMVP same season
68 wins
Most 30pt games by an MVP since MJ
Highest usage rate in a season of any player to ever win a champion
12th player to ever score 3k+ pts in a season
Leading scorer
Longest 20pt streak since 1964
List goes on bruh take a bow
@HoopAficionado It's funny that we often blame Pep for this (rightfully so) but everything that you counter as a fix above was evident in that City team from 2017-19, with Sane, Sterling, Aguero etc.
