Issue 2.1 of static just dropped! And we just launched a new static homepage, where you can download entire issues or single articles for free!

(Ironically, it's a special issue about disconnected objects, but static is now more connected than ever).
Is there a better way to #decolonise#cities than through artistic interventions? 🏙️🎨💃 Probably not.
We're excited to see how our Yolanda Gutiérrez, our newest fellow, uses her art to help decolonise #Munich. Welcome Yolanda!
Excited to be in Munich for "Oceans Disconnect" at @global_discnct@LMU_Muenchen. Organised by @DavidRArmitage, Sujit Sivasundaram and Roland Wenzlhuemer, the workshop examines the dynamics of disconnection in oceanic history. https://t.co/2WjVQmq1JU
The programme of our workshop 'Colonial violence beyond the borders of empires: dis/connections, transfers, and mobilities, ca. 1850–1954' is now online! And, if I may say, it looks exciting! Registration for virtual participation is still open: https://t.co/SHCwm729GI
Excited to share the website for my @MSCActions project hosted by @global_discnct. If you’re interested in themes of transparency and accountability, or curious about the relationship between military, democracy, and empire in Britain, check out: https://t.co/yad0Yx10kB
Is it signal? Is it noise? Is it a scholarly comic about a Sahrawi refugee? Is it a compendium of thought about #disconnectivity from #globaldisconnect?
Yes. It's all that. It's #static. 📡 Issue 1.2 just landed. Download it now (or hmu for a print copy):

Some common keywords of global #disconnection research include:
- history ⌛
- empire 🇬🇧
- the environment 🎋
- the long 19th century 🚂
Our newest (Marie Curie) fellow, @lachlanfleet, covers them all.
Welcome to Munich and #gdc! 🎉🎇👋
#Colombo has long been a deeply connected city, linking #West and #East, #North and #South, #island and #mainland, #land and #sea, #rulers and #ruled.
Sujit Sivasundaram takes a closer look at the dis:connections it contains in our latest blog post: https://t.co/2gCK2IJYSD
The first day of our #gdcconference2022 is in the books! We concluded yesterday evening with a fascinating artist lecture: Cathrine Boublatzky spoke with Iranian artist and activist Parastou Forouhar about positionality and intimacy as well as dis:connective elements in her art.
Dis:connections are not just lateral, across the surface of the globe; they can also be vertical, between the surface and the reservoirs beneath our feet. 🌏🛢️🌍
Our own @menger_tom explores both dimensions in the latest blog post from global dis:connect:

Our third and last day of #gdcsummerschool is drawing to a close, so we want to bid farewell to our wonderful participants and guests. We bow to your commitment to this event (even at over 30°C) and your valuable contributions!
Have you ever wondered what some 20 scholars/artists are doing at 32°C while everybody else is enjoying their summer break? Let’s take a look at some impressions of our first day at #gdcsummerschool:
Today's all about "managing dis:connectivity during decolonization". The great Ayala Levin (UCLA) is taking a head start with a masterclass on architecture and urban planning in postcolonial African states. #gdcsummerschool
