I was recently talking to a man who lost his elderly mother last year, I was telling him about #mouthcarematters and Mouth Care Matters 4 Life and the importance of care providers delivering good oral hygiene to their patients. His eyes welled up.....
Sadly this is not an isolated case, during my time on the wards I attended many patients who had been admitted from care homes with terrible mouths. Many care staff feel unsure how to manage dirty, bleeding or dry mouths over the fear they will make it worse.
Are you aware of the latest CQC recommendations surrounding oral health training?
Mouth Care Matters 4 Life are delighted to be offering training for care home staff in Kent Sussex and Surrey
