MCSO would like to thank the public for helping us locate the owner of the miniature horse that was found roaming in the Queen Creek area.
During the investigation, detectives with the Animal Crimes Unit determined that the miniature horse was suffering from untreated medical…
conditions and had not received necessary veterinary care.
As a result of the investigation, the owner was cited for one count of failure to provide necessary medical treatment to an animal.
The miniature horse will remain in the care of the MCSO MASH Unit pending the outcome…

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 30-year-old Jose Angel Valadez for posting direct threats to kill Sheriff Jerry Sheridan on the social media platform X on July 1, 2026, in which he even requested “full presidential immunity” while making the threats.
Our Threat Management Unit conducted a rapid investigation that located and took Valadez into custody the same day, resulting in charges of Threatening and Intimidating and Use of an Electronic Device to Threaten.
In Arizona, it is illegal to operate a vessel with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.08 percent or higher. MCSO urges boaters to always boat sober and utilize a life jacket when on or near water.

MCSO Lake Patrol will be participating in Operation Dry Water this 4th of July weekend. Operation Dry Water is a nationwide campaign that works to reduce the number of drug and alcohol-related incidents and fatalities on the waterways.
As part of Operation Dry Water, Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office will focus on public education, compliance checks, and enforcement efforts designed to identify and remove impaired vessel operators from the water. Boaters can expect to see an increased law enforcement presence.
