Our leadership students in Yr 11 and Yr 6 took part in our town service for Rememberance Day. What an honour for our senior captains to read a poem, and our juniors to lower and raise the flag for the Last Post.

In the coming days we celebrate our 175th anniversary. “Enduring Education” at Merriwa Central School can be attributed to strong community ties, purposeful learning and unique opportunities and pathways for students in agriculture, industry and learning from K-12.
@NSWEducation
Shayne penned a poem to celebrate our 175 years! We believe she has captured the essence of learning at our school in such a way that transcends histories and the 175 years we have been a school!
This weekend we will celebrate with our community!

@Hammo46 & @jyecurrie came to town with their film- THE PROMISE. A raw & visually stunning dive into mental ill health, & the difference speaking up can make. What an honour to host such a poignant film in a small rural community! Thank you for coming to Merriwa and listening.
MCS Horse Sports team competed at the local Pony Club Inter-schools challenge, taking out 2 age champions, 2 reserve champions & overall Junior Champion Rider. What a stellar performance by our HPGE Equestrian team showing their talents!

Our students had a great day at the Junior Judging at the Merriwa Show! Our senior Ag girls have qualified for judging at the Royal Easter show in 2026, and we look forward to seeing how they go in their endeavours.
When staff become learners! Regional North and West regions collaboratively working to better their understanding of explicit teaching practice under the guidance of @LynSharratt .
@LynSharratt
What an honour to learn from @LynSharratt in Dubbo this week for her CLARITY series!
Great learning opportunities and the importance to “say something” about explicit teaching, learning walks and circles of influence! Thank you for the inspiring PL!
What better way to celebrate a birthday than with a cake competition! This year MCS celebrates 175 years and the Women’s Weekly Birthday book has their birthday too. Bringing the community together for fun and with a purpose!! #proudlypublic#lovewhereyoulearn
What an amazing day, organised by staff of MCS, inviting local school from 2 towns, and across educational domains, to share in Little Sprouts, where the community read to children in their business houses! What an ADVENTURE it was! #proudlypublic#lovewhereyoulearn
A very special K-12 NAIDOC celebration today. Smoking circle, guest speakers, engaging activities and time to reflect. Our staff and students did a great job of honouring First Nations histories and passing knowledge to the Next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy.
Very proud of our Primary and Secondary Star Struck teams! What an achievement. Final performance tonight- Chookas girls!! Special shout out to the staff for the 4 day supportive haul- only possible with your dedication!!
