1 October Sunrise Remembrance Ceremony
This morning, we paused to honor the lives taken from us during the tragic events of October 1, 2017. We also remembered the survivors, families, and first responders whose lives were forever changed that night. Officers, medical personnel, and everyday citizens ran toward the chaos, saving lives and embodying the spirit of what it means to be Vegas Strong.
In the face of unimaginable loss and trauma, our community showed resilience, courage, and compassion.
As we mark this solemn anniversary, we stand with all who continue to heal. We will never forget the lives lost, and we remain committed to protecting and serving this incredible community we call home.
We had a wonderful time at the Guilford Native American Association's 49th Annual Pow Wow. Thank you for welcoming us and giving us the opportunity to experience and celebrate Native American culture and tradition!

Since Sunday, our specialized teams—including SWAT, Aviation, and more—have been working around the clock alongside our law enforcement partners, fire service partners, and area hospitals in intense, immersive, real-life training scenarios.
We hope and pray we never face situations like these—but hope is not a strategy. Preparation is.
At all hours of the day and night, our teams have responded to simulated active shooters, hostage rescues, barricaded suspects, and other critical incidents. The exercises have been demanding, realistic, and intense. We included role-players that had simulated injuries, so the team had to triage and respond to mass casualties.
During one hostage-rescue scenario, an operator suffered a serious injury while breaking through a window, severing part of his thumb. After undergoing surgery at the hospital, he asked if he could, and ultimately did, return to work.
That is the level of determination, commitment, and professionalism these men and women bring to their mission. They train relentlessly so that, no matter what happens, they are ready to protect this community.
Sometimes two photographs can tell a story better than words ever could.
The first time Sheriff Bouchard met this young lady, she was just 18 months old. Her father, a first responder, had died in the line of duty, leaving behind a little girl who would grow up knowing him mostly through the memories and stories shared by others.
He still remembers that first meeting. As they sat together, she was hooked on the stars on his uniform—and promptly pulled them off. As you can see from the picture, he didn’t mind one bit.
Years later, he had the privilege of seeing her again, this time as a remarkable young woman receiving a scholarship from our Michigan Fallen Heroes Memorial. Her mom recently gave us photographs from both of those moments, taken so many years apart.
Seeing them side by side stopped him in his tracks.
One of the promises we make when a first responder makes the ultimate sacrifice is that we will never forget—not only them, but the families they leave behind. Seeing this little girl grow into the young woman she is today is a beautiful reminder of why that promise matters.
Her dad would be incredibly proud.
And for the record, the sheriff thinks his stars are dull compared to her…..superstar!❤️
K9 baseball cards 🐶💙
We recently did a photoshoot to showcase our Douglas County Sheriff's Office K9s. Their posed and personality-filled photos are now on baseball cards our handlers are giving out at community events! #K9#DouglasCounty
We kicked off September with a little aloha! We had the pleasure of celebrating our incredible San Diego County Sheriff volunteers at a special appreciation picnic this week. A huge mahalo to our county partners at Parks and Recreation for helping make this luau-themed luncheon so memorable. Thank you to our community partners who donated raffle baskets for this special event.
Our Volunteer Sheriff’s Patrol members make an incredible impact across our communities. Their dedication, experience, time, and talent help make San Diego County such a wonderful place to live. We are truly grateful for each and every one of our volunteers and all they do to serve and support our communities.

Remembering September 11 💙
This morning, our officers stood alongside @LasVegasFD at Station 5 for the annual September 11th Tolling of the Bell Ceremony. This solemn tradition honors the victims of 9/11, and pays tribute to the 343 FDNY firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice that day.
The ceremony began at 6:45 a.m., marking the approximate time the South Tower of the World Trade Center collapsed. Station 5 holds profound symbols of remembrance: a piece of steel recovered from Ground Zero and a flag that once flew above the World Trade Center. Each year, on this day, that flag is raised in honor of all who were lost.
25 years ago today, our nation and the lives of countless Americans were changed forever. Today, we remember the victims of that horrific act of terror, recognize the survivors and honor the first responders & civilians who acted with courage & determination to save others.
25 years later, the memory of September 11, 2001, remains deeply felt.
@SheriffEd_HCSO shares a special message as we remember the lives lost, honor the heroes who answered the call, and reflect on the strength and unity shown in the days that followed.
We will #NeverForget.
One community. Many voices. One heartfelt message.
Leaders from law enforcement and government joined Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz and the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office in wishing our Jewish community a happy, healthy, peaceful, and sweet New Year.

Today, we honor the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the courage displayed in the face of unimaginable tragedy. Their sacrifice and service will never be forgotten.
