Today, I delivered my condolence motion on the longest ever serving NSW Treasurer, Michael Egan.
And I’m honoured to have delivered it in the presence of his closest friends and family.
Vale Michael - your impact continues to be felt to this day.
Kurt Vonnegut's 8 rules for writing that I think everyone should consider:
1. Use the time of a total stranger in such a way that he or she will not feel the time was wasted.
2. Give the reader at least one character he or she can root for.
3. Every character should want something, even if it is only a glass of water.
4. Every sentence must do one of two things—reveal character or advance the action.
5. Start as close to the end as possible.
6. Be a sadist. No matter how sweet and innocent your leading characters, make awful things happen to them-in order that the reader may see what they are made of.
7. Write to please just one person. If you open a window and make love to the world, so to speak, your story will get pneumonia.
8. Give your readers as much information as possible as soon as possible. To hell with suspense. Readers should have such complete understanding of what is going on, where and why, that they could finish the story themselves, should cockroaches eat the last few pages.
@GethinUnlocks Great to meet you in person @GethinUnlocks. Wish I could carry off a waistcoat as well as you! All the best with your work in the UK and here to help people change so they don’t return to prison.
The lights of @VividSydney will be switched off for one minute at 7.30pm tonight (Monday 12 June 2023), in honour of the victims involved in the fatal bus crash at Greta.
Ticketed events such as ‘Lightscape’, ‘Dark Spectrum’ and ‘Wild Lights’ will proceed as scheduled.
For the first time in more than 50 years, platypus has returned to Royal National Park.
Five female platypus were released into the park this week, with four males set to follow later.
It comes in a bid to re-establish a genetically diverse population within NSW.

The 2023-24 NSW Budget will be handed down by the Treasurer, Daniel Mookhey, on 19 September 2023.
Budget bills must be introduced in the NSW Legislative Assembly so the Treasurer, a member of the Upper House, will make the short trip to that chamber to deliver the Budget.
The stabbing of a Service NSW worker today in Sydney is horrifying.
The thoughts of our government and our state are with this worker and their family at what is no doubt a very difficult time.
To all the staff at Service NSW and those first responders on the scene - thank you.
Tonight we remember the life and sacrifice of paramedic, Steven Tougher.
A life taken far too soon - and a life dedicated to serving others.
We hope this small gesture gives strength to all those who knew Steven and his 5,000-strong paramedic family.
Six fundamental beliefs that bias our view of the world:
1. My experience is a reasonable reference.
2. I make correct assessments of the world.
3. I am good.
4. My group is a reasonable reference.
5. My group is good.
6. People's attributes (not context) shape outcomes.
