@adamboxer1 I argue the opposite is true. Clear, consistent expectations and clear, consistent sanctions create the calm atmosphere that allows teachers to show more of themselves and build more positive relationships with more of their students.
@adamboxer1 This is the point I find a lot of reluctant MWB users miss. I clearly tell my students I need to see their mistakes in case I need to reteach part of the lesson. It's as much a test of my teaching as it is their recall.
@adamboxer1 Very, very occasionally. Giving it more slack initially seems to be the way. It's definitely more durable than some other hoses we've had before.
@adamboxer1 Agreed. We run extra lessons in the holidays but they are voluntary for staff and students.
I'm a strong believer that periods of R&R are essential to prevent burnout during exams season.
@adamboxer1 "Deliberate"
Just kidding. I give my students merits for spotting mistakes in my resources / delivery, but only if they do so politely and respectfully.
Even with year 7, with much more limited prior knowledge, it has a noticeable effect on student engagement and enthusiasm.
Some absolutely revolting people on this app, exploiting the worst vices of human nature for status and glory, or political impact. @MuftiPatel is one of the most capable and experienced people in the English system. His schools are fantastic. And none of this ghastly post is true. Report this.
NHS doctor here, Rupert. If you'd checked your facts before this racist dogwhistle, you'd know that every NHS doctor can speak English - as proven by their IELTS proficiency (look it up... or are you just a populist hatemonger for whom facts don't matter?). Kindness may not solve everything, but my God the hate you spew is builds nothing, improves nothing, and only stokes division.
@adamboxer1 Do you have specific instructions for students listening to your explanation?
I do ask my students to face me and have empty hands to minimise distractions. However, I only know what they've learned after I've checked using MWBs etc.
