My Hausa people, do not compromise your identity because of religion. Do not allow religious differences to erase who we are as a people. Religion and ethnicity are two different things.

You can be a Hausa Muslim, Hausa Christian, or Hausa traditionalist and still be Hausa. Your faith is between you and God, but your identity, dignity, culture, language, history, and collective future belong to all of us.

We must learn from history. Mahatma Gandhi understood the power of unity. He worked to bring Hindus and Muslims together in the struggle for India's independence because he understood that a divided people are easier to weaken, control, and manipulate.

Our greatest strength is not in allowing religion to separate us—it is in recognizing what we share. One language. One cultural heritage. One history. One homeland. One people with a common interest in dignity, development, security, education, and a better future.

Let nobody convince you that being Hausa must come second to religious or sectarian identity. You do not have to abandon your religion to embrace your ethnicity, and you do not have to abandon your ethnicity to practice your religion.

Hausa unity does not mean religious uniformity. It means respecting our differences while refusing to allow those differences to destroy our common identity.

We need to know ourselves, value ourselves, educate ourselves, organize ourselves, and stand together for our legitimate interests. We must stop allowing politicians, clerics, elites, or outsiders to use religion as a weapon for dividing us against one another.

Unity does not mean that we must agree on everything. It means that we recognize that what unites us is greater than what divides us.

My Hausa people, let us wake up. Let us preserve our language. Let us protect our culture. Let us teach our children their history. Let us respect every Hausa person regardless of religion or sect. Let us build bridges instead of walls.

Religion should guide your relationship with God. Humanity should guide your relationship with your fellow human beings. And Hausa identity should never be sacrificed on the altar of religious or political division.

Know yourself. Value yourself. Unite. Organize. Mobilize. Build.

Hausa first in identity. Humanity first in our dealings with one another. Unity in our common purpose.

Hausa people, we are about 85 million in Nigeria, and there is no doubt that we played a significant role in the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election. Unfortunately, there is no a single Hausa minister! Not a single Hausa ambassador! Not a single Hausa person in any federal government parastatal!

Yet, Kannywood, with fewer than 50 people, has as many as three representatives in government. Does this mean that a group of about 50 people is more valued in the corridors of government than the Hausa people, whose number is about 85 million? They have received three appointments and empowerment, and they can meet the President whenever they want!

Hausa people, now that we have awakened, this time we must seek alliances with those who recognize our value and support them regardless of which political party they belong to.

My fellow Hausa people, we must understand that alliances are our only way forward. Therefore, we must not take them for granted.
