Today, Miami Dade College proudly served as a convener for Florida’s Commissioner’s Summit on Campus and School Safety, hosted in collaboration with @StasiKamoutsas and the @EducationFL.
K–12 superintendents, college and university presidents, and local and state law enforcement leaders came together to share best practices and strengthen the safe, supportive environments our students deserve.
During the summit, @GovRonDeSantis signed HB 757, Florida’s School Safety bill, advancing critical tools and resources to help postsecondary institutions across the state continue strengthening campus safety.
At MDC, we believe student success begins with environments where students feel safe, supported, and empowered to thrive.

This week, MDSO participated in Operation Lasso III alongside our regional partners, strengthening multi-county coordination and operational readiness ahead of this summer’s FIFA World Cup. Through exercises like this, we continue to ensure we are prepared to respond effectively and support our community when it matters most. #MDSOtraining #MDSOprotecting
We put our plans into action. Preparing to welcome the world for the 2026 FIFA World Cup means preparing for anything. Operation Lasso III brought together agencies across South Florida to test how we respond to complex, multi-site emergencies under real-world conditions.
These scenarios are challenging by design. They push our ability to coordinate across counties, establish unified command, and operate as one team during the most critical moments.
From managing large-scale response efforts to supporting families, reunifying loved ones, and providing behavioral health care, this exercise strengthens how we protect and serve our community when it matters most.
Behind every major event is a commitment to your safety. This is what preparedness looks like.
Proud to represent the @FLCollegeSystem on the national stage during #FloridaCollegeSystemMonth. #MiamiDadeEM stands with the entire @MiamiDade_SO, our first responders, and the community in mourning the loss of Deputy Devin Jaramillo.
His courage, dedication, and service will never be forgotten. Our hearts are with his family, friends, and all those who had the honor of serving alongside him. We extend our deepest condolences and unwavering support during this difficult time.
Today’s Florida Safety Summit brought together higher ed leaders & safety experts statewide. Proud to represent @MDCollege & hear insights from @floridastate. Grateful for leaders like Tashika President driving emergency preparedness across our campuses.
