Study: In outpatient hip & knee replacement, spinal anesthesia was linked to less pain, lower opioid use and fewer 90-day readmissions—with no rise in urinary retention or PONV. https://t.co/EJGIju4aY3 #Anesthesia#Orthopedics
Lots of interest in RSI recently. This includes 2 PFDs to the College in the last year (with possibly more to come)
The College, Association & DAS have put out a statement on RSI
It won’t be the last word on the topic

🫀 CT Calcium Score – A Simple Test That Can Save Lives
Did you know that heart disease can be present even before symptoms appear?
A CT Coronary Calcium Score (CAC Score) is a quick, non-invasive CT scan that measures calcium deposits in your heart's arteries. It helps identify hidden coronary artery disease and estimates your future risk of heart attack.
Who should consider it?
✅ Adults aged 40–75 years with intermediate cardiovascular risk
✅ People with diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, smoking history, or a family history of early heart disease (after consulting their doctor)
Calcium Score Interpretation:
🟢 0 – Very low risk
🟡 1–99 – Mild plaque
🟠 100–399 – Moderate plaque
🔴 ≥400 – High risk; needs further evaluation
Remember:
A calcium score of 0 does not guarantee zero risk, but it strongly suggests a very low likelihood of significant calcified coronary artery disease.
❤️ Early detection can help prevent future heart attacks through timely lifestyle changes and appropriate treatment.

Individualised intraoperative blood pressure management reduces #hypotension, but does it improve outcomes? This new meta-analysis of 10 RCTs by Shalabi et al. found no significant reduction in postop #AKI, #myocardial injury, or #mortality, with a possible benefit for #delirium.
A nonopioid option showing real promise. Researchers reported strong patient-rated pain control and minimal rescue opioid use with suzetrigine following surgery. Could this reshape postoperative pain care? https://t.co/VGBs35fN1J #PainManagement#Suzetrigine
