You wouldn't hang a $3,000 painting in a dollar-store frame.
So why do so many devs spend years on a game, then slap a generic HUD on top?
Your UI is the frame. 🖼️

Take your 2D UI and project it onto any 3D surface entirely in @rive_app. This example shows mapping a UI to a sphere with reflowing layout (the grid boxes smoothly transition between planet sizes). Pointer events also map to 3D space for button clicks or scrolling.

I'm delighted to announce that I was a lead writer & narrative consultant on Star Wars: Galactic Racer for a year. Super proud of my teammates, honored to be trusted with the opportunity--and so excited that people are already connecting with the game.

Built Rocket Squadron with the Rive CLI and Opus 5.5
A shooter on rails: 2D characters flying through a 3D world. Vector, raster, and 3D, all in one @rive_app file.
Plays natively on desktop, mobile, consoles, and of course on the web. If it has a GPU, Rive runs on it.

@drawsgood This might sound silly but are there tutorials to create characters like this? It looks simple and doable for someone with little artistic and animation skills
And yes 20 bucks month to assist me code and all I have to do is playtest my own game and be a game designer is worth it! No developer wants to be paid $20 to code.
I know because I for sure don’t want to be paid to code your MMORPG Tactical Shooter with no substance 🙃
I’m sorry but I’ve been coding for over a decade and I’m tired of that shit. It’s just an obstacle keeping you from completing your game.
It might just be me but I feel 0 gratification when solving bugs.
Seeing Gen AI in Game Dev… It’s getting worse is honestly So heartbreaking.
We draw every pixel. We code everything ourselves. No AI. No budget. No funding .We’re putting everything we have into this.
It’s really demotivating sometimes. 💔

We’re in the new era game dev and we don’t have to suffer for success or be the “starving artist”. We can just create with little friction and no budget and stay motivated to keep creating new ideas.
I don’t think people underestimate the power of state machines in @rive_app
Think of a Megaman X game where he can run & gun and slide down a wall shoot. This is demonstrating 2 separate animations playing seamlessly together without any frames skipped 😉

So much to do with literally 0 time 🫤
With 2 jobs, one being overnight and then a morning shift at another job right after, I’ve been sleep deprived for almost a year
But now I have Friday nights and weekends off so let’s try and make the most of it 🫠
