2021 was an important year for Fairtrade cocoa. The global campaign named “Bitter Sweet” highlighted the unethical cocoa sourcing practices by some major chocolate manufacturers.

Friday fact! @FairtradeUK introduced a new Fairtrade Base Wage for Fairtrade certified banana plantations, paid from 1 July 2021 onwards, to ensure farmers get higher wages. This is another significant step towards fairness.
