It is difficult to deny that Aliko Dangote’s business empire has crossed the line from healthy competition into outright monopoly. From cement to sugar, salt, pasta, and now oil, Dangote Industries

Dangote Refinery is sending email to some of the people who were screened but not employed as far back as 2022 have started receiving fresh emails inviting them to resume medicals.
Why is the refinery recalling candidates now, immediately after letting go of hundreds of workers?
This is clearly an attempt to quietly replace the unionized staff who were recently laid off.
Some time ago, I had a lengthy conversation with the former Accountant General of Kaduna State who served under Mallam Nasir El-Rufai. Our discussion drifted to what many remember as the good old days in Kaduna, when governance was largely driven by a desire to build institutions, attract investment, and put the interests of the state above personal interests.
He shared several stories about those years, but one in particular has remained with me ever since.
He told me that one of Mallam El-Rufai's biggest priorities as governor was attracting FDI into Kaduna State. According to him, Mallam understood that government alone could not create enough jobs or transform the economy. His strategy was to convince both local and international investors that Kaduna was open for business.
Because the security reports were very messy for Kaduna at that time, that meant countless meetings, presentations, negotiations, and official trips. He said there were periods when Mallam was constantly travelling from one country to another, meeting global investors, development partners, and multinational companies, selling Kaduna's potential and trying to persuade them to invest in the state.
Then he narrated an incident that, in his opinion, perfectly captured Mallam's attitude, and why it is impossible for Mallam to dabble in to public funds.
Within his first year in office, Mallam travelled to Singapore to meet prospective investors. Like every official foreign trip, his estacodes and DTA accumulated over the trip. When the necessary documentation was processed, the total amount came to about $56,000, and the payment file was forwarded to him for approval.
To the surprise of those handling the payment, Mallam declined. Because the prospective investors who invited him had taken full responsibility for the trip. They paid for his flights, accommodation, and other expenses. Since Kaduna State did not bear the cost of the trip, he believed it would be wrong to receive estacodes and DTA from public funds for expenses he never incurred. He instructed that the payment should not be made.
The former AG told me that moments like that reinforced the confidence many members of the administration had in his leadership, and that's when the bad eggs knew it's not business as usual.
Today, they want us to believe this same man took $4000, or $3000 of public funds. How?
We know the kind of leader Mallam Nasir El-Rufai was in Kaduna. For many of us, stories like these explain why we continue to stand firmly with him through his current travails.
@IU_Wakilii I had similar conversation with somebody last week, I genuinely believe that Wadada shouldn't be anywhere near that position and I also believe that Nasarawa should stay faraway from Chagoury.
Dear @DOlusegun, @iamnasboi is right.
I have served this country for 11 good years, yet I still cannot afford to buy a car or own an apartment for myself and my family.
Give me four reasons why I should be willing to die for this country.
I spent four years in Maiduguri fight
Don’t play politics with the El-Rufai mourning phase.
Many of these individuals were absent when Mallam was arrested, either for him or his family. They never voiced their support for Mallam or worked underground for his release. If this were not a political season, most of them would not be present.
Some are there for the cameras, and their presence will fade after the dust settles.
The loss of a parent and loved one is immeasurable.
Allow the family to mourn in peace.
Allah jikan Hajiya da wadanda suka rigamu gidan gaskiya.
I have been criticizing this guy for long, misjudging his kindness for Riya, but honestly now I came to realize he's who he claimed he's, a Kind person and a giver.. Hope you forgive me captain, Eid Mubarak
JUST IN: Tracy Ohiri, the businesswoman who accused Minister Umahi of owing her money, shares pictures of prominent figures she has worked with in the past.
We have successfully concluded the JAMB/WAEC Registration Exercise for 300 students in Kaduna North.
The exercise, supervised by @mni_JJ, is one of the key programs under the Kowa Namu Ne Foundation Education Initiative. Through this initiative, we have enrolled students across basic education and secondary school levels, further strengthening our commitment to accessible and quality education.
Our next step is to organize intensive trainings and tutorials to better prepare these students for their forthcoming examinations and ensure outstanding performance.
We sincerely appreciate Governor @ubasanius for providing an enabling environment that supports impactful educational initiatives.
Kowa Namu Ne ✌🏽♾️
You people have zero shame.
The North has been bleeding for YEARS. Villages attacked,People killed,Women kidnapped,Families ruined,And instead of using your platform to scream at the government, you’re busy polishing their shoes online,Every time they toss you small crumbs,
To the people of Kaduna, you can criticise Mallam Nasir El-Rufai all you want, but let’s be honest for a moment. Imagine if former Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero had handed over directly to Uba Sani, and Nasir was never part of Kaduna’s story. Take a drive from Kawo through Waff Road, Raba Road, Isa Kaita and Sultan Road, now picture those roads, the malls and the developments not existing, Mallam Nasir Elrufai is the goat in Kaduna and history will not and cannot be rewritten to suite a narrative.
Oga Bash but you know this is bad abi?
In 2022/23 APC boasted of 40m people.
In 2026, it’s barely 11M and counting.
Which means there’s a decline or there was a lie…
Maybe you will explain better ☺️
The passion, dedication, and focus are clear and unwavering. We sincerely thank Hon. Abdulaziz Kaka @Abunaah for giving us the opportunity to put this initiative into action. Today, all 12 wards under Kaduna North Local Government will benefit from this initiative.
This Junior Defense Minister is a funny guy.
First, he abducted @AM_Saleeeem, thinking he would leave no trace, meaning he wanted to make him disappear. (Remember Dadiyata?)
Second, after everything was uncovered, he sought to utilize the police and the court in a dramatic and dubious manner. ONSA blocked that.
Third, he issued demands that Saleem should tender an apology on Twitter and pledge allegiance to him. It failed woefully.
Please, let's try to give our children quality education so they won't end up embarrassing our ancestors, just like our favorite TWITTER VILLAIN - Matawalle.
