You just can’t do it. You simply refuse to admit you were wrong.
No matter how you look at it you were wrong. Percentage? Wrong. Numbers? Wrong. Quantities? Wrong.
It is me holding your hand as you fly into apoplexy over realizing I called your bluff and you were wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.
Watching you flail is both sad and somewhat entertaining. Not what I wanted and not what I expected. Hoped you were different but I was wrong about that for sure.
Defining words? Are you serious? Move on Matty. Move on.
The act of making a desperate, often futile attempt to find a solution, hope, or argument in a hopeless situation.
Oh, sorry that defines the idiom “grasping at straws” not the word you asked. Anyway…
You accused me of tweeting you but I was simply doing as you requested.
Now move on to something else for a bit and when the final numbers for 2025 come out I will give you a full on comparison.
Or you could do it yourself. But you won’t because you already refuse to admit you were wrong.
For context though. Saying it will probably rain and it doesn’t make you correct that it was sunny instead. It makes you wrong that you predicted rain. Even if only probably.
You can admit you were wrong. I don’t and won’t hate you. Who am I after all?
I mean besides the guy who was right. 🤣. But now I am gloating. I apologize.
Again, I will circle back and now, have a nice day. 😬
Matty, first off I did not decide to tweet at you. In case you forgot here is your post from last year. I am just coming back at your request. So there is that and something else you are wrong about.
I stand by the math from last year and although it will take me some time to do the math for this year and do the comparison I will get to it.
You can’t walk back your prediction but you can simply admit you were wrong.
Why can’t you?
It is not if or if not revenue from Canadians represented half or not. It is that you insisted that all Canadians would cancel travel to the US and cause a loss of 50% of our international revenue from tourism.
Not only did Canadians still come and prove you wrong there but we clearly did not suffer a 50% loss of any revenue to include external, foreign, or external travel.
So no matter how you want to continue to dissect this, you were and continue to be.
Wrong.
Here’s your tweet. Have a nice day.
@parkersity_9 Shit made in China did all the work. Where you been? Try this, go to Harbor Freight and buy a set of jack stands. Then set your car on them. Now get under there sport! Trust your life to chineseium. 🤣
@kurt_loder Forced myself to maybe 20min. Got to the point where Sean Penn was wanking in his truck and that was it. One positive observation of this movie: Reminded me why it took Leo so long to get an Oscar. He sucks. He really sucks as an actor.
This whole conversation is about you claiming in one year’s time, the US would lose “half” (your word) of it’s external tourism revenue.
No need to talk about anything else. Just that. Your claim to the loss of half, 50%.
No other number no other debate. Your claim one year ago.
One year later…
You were wrong.
Period.
Have a nice day.
@matty_323 As promised, circling back. A couple weeks early.
Seems Florida is on track to set a new tourism record despite fewer Canadians. Full 2025 numbers are due out in February. The US overall saw a decline in international tourism but still saw a slight increase in overall tourism revenue thanks to domestic travel increase. So, as I believe I said we are doing just fine. Have a nice day!
That was the math then and you certainly looked at it that way.
But you cleverly cut off the part of your post where you said the US would potentially loose half of it’s external income gain. Based on the context of the conversation that 54% you pointed to would be from Canadians not coming. As if it were some great threat. Well not only were you wrong about the Canadians (they still came, fewer but still they came)
The net loss was substantially less than 54% as you predicted in fact over all revenue to include international was up not down.
I am not arguing anything just bringing back the receipts as we agreed to circle back in a year. No argument to be made. Your prediction was wrong. You can be mad about that all you want. Throw a fit and block me, I don’t much care. Manipulating the percentages or whatever you like. Revenue is revenue and it was up not down and certainly no percentage was down by 50%.
