Citizen Science Summer School is for early career researchers and hosted by @ETH, @pwa_zurich and @UZH_en. You will develop skills needed to engage in participatory research - apply now: https://t.co/ajP2MpVTGZ
Τ4Τ 3-day seminar, organized by @eliamepgr and @EDoussis, is coming to an end. Over 60 teachers have joined to receive training on climate change! We focused on #CitizenScience and #Citizen Observatories with biodiversity observations obtained by students via apps! @Cos4Cloud
Our final meeting has taken place during the past two days. One of the things we can say is that: We made it! Open resources for citizen observatories! 🌏🔓🥳
Above all, we've enjoyed an in-person meeting where we realised the great #team we've created during the past years 💙
The goal? Integrate #citizenscience in the school practice in Greece. 🔝
Maria Daskolia (@MDaskolia), Associate Professor in environmental #education and head of the EEL/NKUA coordinates the academic and pedagogical part of the course.
The key of @Cos4Cloud's success will be multidisciplinary and international collaboration🌍!
During the project, co-designed activities will also be carried out to discuss and improve the proposed services according to the #citizenscience needs.
Who are the partners? 👇
Public participation in scientific research is growing, thanks to #citizenscience! Within this context, @Cos4Cloud will create 10 services to boost #citizenscience technologies🔝
The project will make these services available in the new European Open Science Cloud, #EOSC🇪🇺
"Guidelines should be worded as simple as possible while at the same time take care to keep all methodological procedures as simplified and easy to follow, to avoid lowering #motivation for involvement in the CS project", @MDaskolia#citscichat
"Guidelines should first of all underline all parameters in working #protocols that cannot be traded off; they should also inform about possible or frequent lapses and how to address or overcome them" @MDaskolia#citscichat
"Αpart from ensuring that all #citizenscience (CS) studies follow some well-elaborated research design, it is necessary that such a design is well-communicated to all CS participants" @MDaskolia#citscichat
"By the latter I mean that there are cases of #citizenscience (CS) ‘studies’ which are carried out based on a loose research design or even no research design at all, just on the enthusiasm and good will of the CS volunteers", @MDaskolia#citscichat
"Τhere is an absolute need for clearer #guidelines with regards to the design of #citizenscience studies, as there is also an even greater need for having a proper research design per se", @MDaskolia#citscichat
Let's continue with the #citscichat lead by @PLOSONE!
Answering the question "Is there a need for clearer guidelines for the design and execution of #citizenscience studies?", Maria Daskolia (@MDaskolia) from @Cos4Cloud's team, has valuable insights on this topic!
"There are several #citizenscience cases in which this idea was followed as mentioned by Ward-Fear et al. (2020).
