Annapolis, MD – House Republicans today released a statement regarding the announced budget agreement.
“It is abundantly obvious that the definition of “Democratic Values” is a tax-and-spend-then-tax-again policy," said House Minority Leader Jason Buckel. “They have provided no solution to the long-term budget issues that have been facing our state since the passage of the Blueprint. Even worse, they are pushing through taxes that will only serve to damage our economy.”
“We have had weeks of rhetoric from the Governor and Democratic leadership about the existential threat Washington D.C. poses to Maryland’s economy,” said House Minority Whip Jesse Pippy. “Now they turn around and deal what will be a horrendous blow to our economy with more than a billion in new taxes including a significant tax on the technology sector we are trying to grow.”
Before a House hearing for the 2.5% business to business tax proposal, House Minority members are talking about their opposition.
“This bill is jet fuel to a forest fire.”
“We hope that Governor Moore sends a clear message to the General Assembly and comes out in opposition to this tax,” said House Minority Leader Jason Buckel. “The business-to-business tax is a terrible idea and flies in the face of his stated goals to grow our economy. Governor Moore needs to take an unequivocal stand against this tax.” @iamwesmoore
