In 2010, coal made up almost a third of UK power generation.
In 2019, when I was Energy Minister, we went for the first ever fortnight without coal. From today, there will be no coal power.
Don’t let anyone tell you that the energy transition and net zero won’t be possible.

Hope people are tuning in to watch this. It’s an important one and everyone needs to see just how shocking and unbelievable it is. It’s gut wrenching and utterly heartbreaking what happened to these innocent people. Please watch and please share. #MrBatesVsThePostOffice
20 hours energy a day from Morocco to the UK, via 3,800 km of HVDC interconnectors. Wind, solar and (presumably) storage. Tasty!

We proudly stand with 431 companies, to not just imagine change, but to make it happen as a signatory of @climatepledge
We committed to becoming Net Zero by 2038, with targets submitted to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

#TheClimatePledge
1. Global warming will continue until we reach net-zero.
2. The climate consequences will keep getting worse until we reach net-zero.
3. After reaching net-zero we will have to live and suffer in a warmer world for generations.
Do we act now or delay further?
Professor Sir Robert Watson, Director of Strategic Development for the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, tells @amolrajan that current pledges suggest 'we're on a pathway of at least 2.5 degrees', which misses the 1.5 degree target limit set in Paris in 2015.

New @Deloitte report on green hydrogen is out seeing minimal use in buildings.
As 41 independent studies said before, Deloitte concludes:
"it is expected that hydrogen demand in buildings remains marginal (5 MtH2eq in 2050, below 1% of total needs)"
