The concert closed with a collaboration that blended the two genres of music in an original adaptation of “Cucurrucucú Paloma🕊️” a Mexican huapango-style song written by Tomás Méndez Sosa in 1954 and made popular by music greats like Pedro Infante and Lola Beltrán.

In February, we hosted our annual Valentine’s Day serenade, Viva El Amor, with special guests, MECA alumni & mariachi music star, Vanessa Alonzo, accompanied by Trio Chapultepec and Jazz songstress, Ermelinda Cuellar, accompanied by pianist Bob Henschen and Thomas Helton on Bass.
.@MECA_Houston has an incredible 2023 season of performances featuring shows like the Primavera Party this Saturday featuring Latin music indigenous to Cuba, to the South Asian musical style of Qawwali performed by @Riyaaz_Qawwali in April!
