Yesterday, following 150 days of detention in Mashhad and Zanjan, and after ten days of hospitalization, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi was transferred via ambulance from a Zanjan medical center to Pars Hospital in Tehran following intensified international pressure.

She is currently admitted to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU). Based on the diagnosis of the medical team and due to the necessity of continuous monitoring of vital signs, she will remain under intensive care in this unit until further notice.

A team consisting of specialists in Cardiology and Neurology began the process of reviewing clinical history and medical records provided by the family today. Given the existing reports of physical instability, severe blood pressure fluctuations, heart attacks, and recurrent chest pain, physicians believe her clinical symptoms may stem from suffering from multiple concurrent illnesses.

In this regard, paraclinical measures—including echocardiography, continuous monitoring of vital signs to record fluctuations in blood pressure and heart rate, chest radiography (CXR) and a blood analysis to examine cardiac and inflammatory markers—have been placed on the agenda to reach a definitive diagnosis, with the hope of achieving clinical stability and improving her general condition.

Narges Mohammadi has developed extreme physical weakness due to enduring long-term periods of imprisonment totaling more than ten years, including 161 days in solitary confinement, and 14 arrests accompanied by trauma and intense psychological, physical, and security pressures. Specifically, the physical assault and severe beatings during her last arrest in Dec 2025, in Mashhad has left acute physical complications that have complicated the treatment process. The commencement of definitive treatment is contingent upon the completion of the medical team's evaluations and reaching a final diagnosis.

We emphasize that a temporary "suspension of sentence" alone is not the solution. Narges Mohammadi requires specialized and permanent care under the supervision of her own medical team. A definitive guarantee that she will not be returned to the high-stress environment of prison to serve unjust sentences is a medical and humanitarian necessity.

The time has now come for the international community to demand the unconditional release of Narges Mohammadi and the annulment of all sentences against her peaceful activities. We also emphasize that no human rights or women's rights activist should be imprisoned for safeguarding human values and their peaceful activities, and we call for the release of all political prisoners.
